Ghana: Presbyterian Church of Ghana ordains ministers

Presbyterian_Church_of_Ghana_logoGraphic.com.gh – The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has ordained 18 ministerial probationers at the Covenant Congregation at Dworwulu in Accra, with a challenge to fulfil their ministry in humility.

Preaching the sermon on the theme “Christ shall set you free,” the former Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Herbert Anim-Opong, admonished the new ministers not to be afraid of the challenges they were going to face in the ministry but look up to God who had called them.

He urged them to accept postings to wherever they would be sent to in order to make the word of God available to all people.

Rev. Anim-Opong, who is also the Chairperson for the North America/Australia Presbytery of the church, cautioned the new ministers not to abuse their positions, but to instead humble themselves before God and their fellow men.

He urged them to preach the message of peace to the people to ensure their continuous confidence in the church.

He further urged them to make their congregations places of comfort, where people who were in a state of fear could go to seek peace.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, who officiated at the ordination service, asked the new ministers to selflessly contribute their quota to make the various congregations in the church dynamic.

“You have the task of bringing all members of your congregation into fellowship and helping to educate them to lead sound moral lives,” he said.

He asked them to pray always and seek the face of God which, according to him, was the only way to have a complete communion with God.

The new ministers are Rev. (Mrs) Patricia Addy, Rev. (Mrs) Juliana Afram, Rev. (Mrs) Silvia E. A. Anning Bonsu, Rev. Eugene Apea Owiredu, Rev. (Mrs) Yustina Kuorkor Ashley, Rev.
