Anglican Church gives to Female Prisoners

Ho, GNA – The Ho Diocese of the Anglican Church has donated assorted items worth 4,000 Ghana cedis to the Ho Female Prisons as part of the Diocese’s 10th anniversary.

The Diocese, which encompasses Volta Region and Togo was, until the last 10 years, part of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church.

The items included bags of rice and maize, yams, plantains, cartons of milk and key soap, toilet rolls, cooking oils and loaves of bread.

Catechist Joyce Agbefu said the donation was the Diocese’s expression of love to the inmates and told the 16 inmates not to lament their situation.

Reverend Father Joseph Hayibor, Parish Priest of the Cathedral Anglican Church, Ho, said they must see life in prison as an opportunity to learn to improve themselves.

He advised them to drop any intentions they might have to seek revenge on gaining their freedom rather they should pray for those who they perceived to be responsible for their situation and resolve to live in peace with everybody.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) Mrs Beatrice Mensah who received the items on behalf of the Prisons expressed appreciation for the donation.
