Angola: Tocoist Church Leader Lauds Initiative of Promoting Country’s Culture Abroad

Madrid – The leader of Our Lord Jesus Christ Church in the World, also denominated Tocoist Church, bishop Afonso Nunes, said last Monday in Madrid, Spain, that it is quite opportune and satisfactory the initiative of the Angolan government, through the Culture Ministry and the Angolan Embassy in Spain, to promote an event intended to internationalize the art and culture of Angola.

Speaking to ANGOP and the National Radio of Angola (RNA), on the fringes of the launching of the exhibition dubbed “Memories and Forgetfulness”, by the Angolan plastic artist António Ole, the cleric stated that the initiative is of great importance, because it enables the citizens of other parts of the world to have direct contact with the Angolan culture, have a close look at the wealth and value of the Angolan cultural goods.

“Though this kind of activities foreigners can see and have a more truthful information about what Angola is about in terms of culture (…)”, said the prelate.

According to Afonso Nunes, this move must, however, count on the support and intervention of other agents, mainly those linked to the cultural world, as a good to take the message outside Angola.

The forum is an initiative that aims at strengthening the relations between Angola and Spain in the domains of arts and culture, stimulating the interchange of experiences between Spanish and Angolan cultural entrepreneurs, as well as promoting each other’s arts and culture.
