Rehoboth Baptist Church(Cameroon Tribune) Oyom-Abang, Yaounde that operated as a prayer station for over seven years was officially recognised as a full-fledged church in the Yaounde East Association of the Yaounde Field Conference of the Cameroon Baptist Convention on June 9, 2013. The event also saw the induction of Rev. Ngwani Joseph as pastor of the church.
The service was chaired by the Yaounde Field Pastor, Rev. Dr. Charlemagne Nditemeh, accompanied by By Kimeng Hilton Ndukong clergymen men, representatives of churches of Yaounde Field and well-wishers. Welcoming guests, the Appointed Deacon of Rehoboth Baptist Church, RBC, Prof. Samuel Atechi, commended among others, the mother church, Covenant Baptist Church, Tsinga, Yaounde for its support over the years.
He paid tribute to the pioneer church pastor, Randolf Yosimbom and the Foryoung family for providing their school premises free of charge to host the church for seven years. Rev. Johnson Okoroafor of Covenant Baptist Church pledged FCFA 500,000 as his church’s support for RBC’s construction project.
In his sermon from I Corinthians 10:12 on the topic, “Privileges and challenges in the holy of holies,” Rev. Dr. Nditemeh highlighted the consequences of abusing privileges and the challenges that come with responsibilities. A servant of God, he said, touches the spiritual aspirations of the church. More so, a servant of God must be honorable, pleasing, faithful, diligent, exercise self denial and should take retreats for renewal whenever these qualities are lacking.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of RBC’s new leadership and the cutting of the hand of fellowship/induction cake, decorated with RBC’s theme verse for the year from Romans 8:16-17. Rev. Ngwani Joseph and his family were then officially presented to the church, followed by the offer of gifts from worshippers.
