Gospel musician Joe Mettle made history last Saturday at the Accra International Conference Centre to become the first Gospel musician to win Artiste of the Year at Charterhouse-organized Ghana Music Awards.
He has simply broken a jinx that has been hanging over the Ghana Music Awards Since its inception in the year 2000. Before his win, no gospel artiste has won the award before.
Joe Mettle beat competition from Sarkodie, EL, Stonebwoy, MzVee and Medikal.
In his acceptance speech, Joe Mettle said, “This is for God almighty, this is for gospel music, this is for Christians and for every gospel musician in Ghana, I just want to say that the door is open”
Joe Mettle also walked away with the Gospel Artiste of the Year and Best Male Vocalist of the Year awards.
