Kenya: Kiambu Clerics Praise Bill That ‘Will Not Tax God’

A section of Kiambu clerics have lauded the county government for passing the Finance bill into law after it was amended with their recommendations.

The first bill was shot down by the county assembly two weeks ago. The clerics said the bill is good as it will not “tax” God who has given Governor William Kabogo and his cabinet leadership.

Led by Apostle Church of Kenya Central region head John Ngata and Pastor Stephen Kamau, the clergymen thanked the government and MCAs for listening to the “voice of the people” over the controversial bill.

They were speaking during a ceremony where they appointed new church leaders in Kamburu location, Lari Subcounty yesterday. Among those appointed were Daniel Nganya as a pastor; Samuel Ndung’u, Samuel Karanja and Daniel Mwangi as evangelists; and John Njumbi and Joseph Mwatha as church elders.
