The Liberian Charity Ambassador Kanvee Adams has been awarded the Special International Award for the Promotion of African Gospel Music at a ceremony held at the Great Hall, Queen Mary’s in the city of London, United Kingdom on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
The 4th annual Africa Gospel Music Awards are given to successful and popular gospel music artists around Africa and other African Gospel musicians based outside the continent. The annual event brings together a wide range of inspirational, popular and successful gospel artists. Her participation over the weekend was Liberia’s first recognition since the event was launched years ago.
Since the release of her popular tracks entitled, “Carry My Load”, “Thank God for Mama” and “Bundle”, the Liberian female who started her career 10 years ago and has traveled throughout the Liberian Diaspora to the USA, Benin, Togo, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Ghana and Nigeria and has taken her career beyond the shores of Africa and was tipped as one of dozens of African Gospel musicians for the international event.
In an interview with Daiqua Media Services Limited, UK, the Liberian female artist thanked the Africa Gospel Music Association for the honor.
She thanked her fellow Liberians, in particular for accepting her music and the message from the Gospel she spreads through her songs. She also used the occasion to thank the Liberian government for their assistance in making her travel to the award ceremony a success and promised to continue preaching through songs while serving Liberia.
Attending the award ceremony of behalf of the Liberian government was Liberia’s Ambassador to the Court of St. James, Wesley M. Johnson and staff from the Liberian Embassy and members of the Liberia Community in the UK.
According to the website of the organizers, Africa Gospel Music Association, the event honors and recognizes talented and hardworking Gospel or Christian music community worldwide and is dedicated to exposing, promoting and celebrating gospel music through African-fusion music of all styles.
The Liberian Musical Gospel icon was previously nominated for the ‘Best Female Artist For Africa’ and the ‘Best Artist For West Africa’ awards.
Kanvee’s Gospel songs feature prominently on the playlists of DJs at Liberian social gatherings and African terrestrial and internet radio stations outside the country while holding firmly onto the local scene.
Kanvee has produced 12 leading Gospel albums between 2002 to present, consistently sweeping the national Gospel Awards in several categories to include her trio ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Best Selling Album’, ‘Best Inspirational Artist’, just to select a few.
