Jakaya Kikwete in an exclusive “Conversation on Africa’s Past, Present and Future” with African Heads of State during AAI’s 60th Anniversary Awards Gala on September 25 at the Hilton New York in New York City, during the opening week of the UN General Assembly.

The other African Heads of State invited to participate in the “Conversation” include Prime Minister of Ethiopia and Chair of the African Union H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn; President of Namibia H.E. Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba; President of Nigeria H.E. Goodluck Jonathan; and President of South Africa H.E. Jacob Zuma.

During the “Conversation”, African leaders will engage in a 20-minute high-level discussion highlighting Africa’s successes and challenges since independence and will present their vision for accelerating the continent’s development and socio-economic progress in the future.

This is the second year that President Mahama has participated in an AAI-sponsored event. In 2012, Mahama was an opening panelist at AAI’s Business and Investment Conference on maximizing Africa’s emerging market and foreign investment potential and fully engaging women in African economic development.

In 2009, AAI presented the AAI African National Achievement Award to the People of Ghana for the country’s steadfast commitment to education as a vehicle to prosperity and building a sustainable, democratic nation since ending military rule. The award was accepted by the late John Evans Atta Mills in a video presentation.
