As usual at African events, it took quite some time, a few hours, for people to arrive in numbers and to fill the banquet hall.

This time of year is a great moment of reunion for the people of Baoulé. Baoulé is an Akan tribe and one of the largest groups in Côte d’Ivoire.
Every year the association together with other Baoulé associations in the USA celebrate PQUINOU.
Beautifully adorned kings, queens, clad in their traditional cloth and gold and crystal beads ornament amidst intensive drumming and dancing it was colorful and full of delight to watch rich and glamorous culture of Baoulé was on full display..
Nana Yao Kouadio entered the hall with traditional pageantries surrounded with other local chiefs and elders in the Baoulé community in the USA. Nana bla Chatal Goli as usual with her majestic entry with group of traditional dancers.
The atmosphere was beautiful, it was a time of reunion, celebration of culture and unity.
The evening continued with music and dancing, while popular Ivoirians songs made everyone throng the dance floor.
This Cultural event was a rare celebration of the Baoulé Culture.
Among the invited guests for this year’s event was Côte d’Ivoire ambassador to United States Mr. Haïdara Mamadou and the Consul Général in New York.
The ambassador in his remarks after being crowned a chief thanked the association and expressed his belief that this festival was a good showcase of the Ivorian culture to the world.
