Tanzania Daily News (Dar es Salaam) Mwanza — PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete on Wednesday led thousands of mourners in the burial of the former Evangelistic Assemblies of God Tanzania (EAGT) Bishop, Dr Moses Kulola, here.

In his speech in memory of the late religious leader at the EAGT Bugando Church in Mwanza City, President Kikwete said that Bishop Kulola was his best friend, adding that their friendship came a long away.

“He was a friend of mine because he was a man of the people who never segregated people. He loved all the people and that is the only reason why he was my friend; had he not been a man of the people, he would never have become my friend,” said Mr Kikwete.

He said that during his lifetime, Bishop Kulola advocated unity and peace and stood for love among Tanzanians and hated discrimination. President Kikwete noted that before his death, he paid a courtesy call on him at the State House where he told the president of his intention to pray for him and the nation as a whole.

He said that Bishop Kulola was committed to peace, was a fearless man and as far as he was concerned, he was always advocating the right thing. Mr Kikwete called on all the people to emulate him by preaching peace, love and harmony in the country.

Bishop Kulola was born on June 2, 1928, at Nyahonge Village in Kwimba District, Mwanza Region. He obtained his primary education at Idundo Primary School in 1942 to 1945 and later on joined middle school. Between 1946 and 1949, he joined technical college where he pursued a course in civil engineering. He was employed by the Mwanza Town Council in 1961.

He then joined Itendo Bible School in Mbeya before going to the UK to pursue further Bible studies, earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD). On January 23, 2011 he joined California State University where also he was conferred a PhD.
