The state minister for Gender and Culture, Rukia Nakadama, has urged religious leaders to put family issues first on their agenda.
Speaking at celebrations to mark International Day for Families, Nakadama said without strong family values, society would soon break down.
The celebrations, at the National Theatre on Wednesday, carried the theme, “Social integration; the role of families”. But Pastor Martin Ssempa argued that the government had ignored family matters, and left them to religious leaders.
