The Standard – Pastor G will on Saturday headline the Harare Big Church day out at Glamis Arena in the Exhibition Park.
The bulky musician leads a line-up of artists like Sabastian Magacha, Mathius Mhere and Flem B.
A first of its kind, the event will also see many choral groups led by Zim Praise Choir participating.
Organiser of the event, Marshall Shonhai said the event was aimed at bringing families together in a festival mood.
“There are very few events in the country that cater for the whole family particularly women and children, and this one is modelled along those lines,” he said.
“We are going to have drum majorettes, horse riding, jumping castles, slides, clowns and fireworks, among other facilities, to make sure children are well-catered for.”
He said the event would bring together Christians in a more relaxed environment.
Running under the theme Touching A Nation One Random Kindness At a Time, the event runs throughout the day and will involve numerous denominations.
Shonhai said unlike most family shows, the Harare Big Church would focus on family entertainment in a holistic manner.
Pastor G said it would be a day for rejoicing.
“This is an opportunity for us as Christians to come and have fun. There are very few opportunities for Christians to have fun and I am glad this is one such,” said pastor G (real name Stanley Gwanzura).
“We are not perfect as humans and the situations that we face are not perfect, but we have to look unto God.”
Zim Praise publicist Tendai Zhou said his camp was excited about their participation at the event.
“Our vision at Zim Praise is to unite nations through worship for God’s glory so this event means a lot to us,” said Zhou.
Shonhai said the event was founded with the country at heart and the desire to see it restored.
“With our theme, Touching A Nation One Random Kindness At a Time, we intend to give back part of our proceeds to our community’s deprived and/or underprivileged, be it in cash or kind,” said Shonhai.
“The donations will be presented to the selected organisations on the day of the event.”
