Africa: Liberian Gospel Star to Get African Awards

51aELHOrVGL._SL500_AA280_(The Analyst) Liberia’s foremost Gospel musical icon, Ambassador Kanvee Gaines-Adams’ heightened musical career is not going unnoticed in the international world of Gospel music. That is why the newly crowned Ambassador of Charity has just been enlisted as one of several African Gospel musicians that have been lined up to receive continental awards by the African Gospel Music Awards (AGMA’s).

Amb. Gaines-Adams has been nominated in two separate categories of the prestigious annual awards. She is a joint-nominee for the ‘Artiste of The Year For West Africa’ and the ‘Female Artiste of The Year’ categories.

“Dear Kanvee Adams, This is to inform you that you have been nominated for an award at the AGMA 2013 ceremony in London……The AGMA Executive Board and Team wish to congratulate you for your great work in promulgating the Gospel of Christ through your ministry. Our prayer is that you go on to achieve greater things for the Kingdom”, reads the official letter from the UK-based group addressed to the multiple-award winner.

The three-times Liberia’s ‘Gospel Artist of The Year’ and many other multiple award holder shares the ‘Artiste of The Year For West Africa’ nomination with her fellow compatriot Sayon T. Mayson, one of Liberia’s highly rated Gospel musicians who is also bracing himself for the London event.

The AGMA’s are in recognition of African Gospel music, uniting both current and legendary gospel artists from around the globe. This year’s red carpet event that celebrates its 4th anniversary will take place at the prestigious Great Hall of Queen Mary’s University in London, the United Kingdom.

The event will undoubtedly be a night to remember and draw the huge crowds it is famed for on Saturday 6th July 2013.

Kanvee robs shoulders with other continental giants for the ‘Female Artiste of The Year’ with other highly rated African Gospel musicians including Ntokozo Mbamo, Mahalia Buchanan and Hlegiwe Mhlala all of South Africa, Maseog Motswiri of Bostwana, Onos Ariyo and Lara George of Nigeria, Helen Yawson, and Ohemaa Mercy of Ghana.

In the category of ‘Artiste of The Year For West Africa’, Liberia’s Kanvee will be hoping to edge the likes of the Nigerian dominated category of Psalm Ebube, Onos Ariyo, Obi Shine and Gaise and Cwesi Oteng and Michael Oware of Ghana, Rosemarie Baryoh of Sierra Leone, and her own compatriot Sayon T. Mayon of Liberia.

“I’m grateful to God for the nomination and to my fans. Now my only appeal to my fans and Liberians is for them to vote me because voting me will also mean voting for Liberia and showing to the rest of Africa what God can do in our country, Liberia”, remarked Kanvee.

And so of major concern is Liberians’ own involvement to help Kanvee and fellow Liberian Mayon to bring home atleast one of the prestigious awards by voting online http://www.africagospelawards.com/nominations.html). According to the organizers, Kanvee’s chances of winning depend on how well she will be voted for.

As this year’s ceremony promises to be bigger and better with a new venue and maintains its reputation as the only Gospel Music event that brings together all Africans and supporters of African music, fans of the nominated Liberian Gospel artists and Liberians in general can only do ‘Mama Liberia’ a big favor by voting.
