M’banza — Kongo – The Apostolic Nuncio of the Catholic Church in Angola, Dom Novatus Rugambwa, Friday paid homage in M’banza-Kongo, to the first bishop of the local diocese, Dom Afonso Nteka, who died in a car accident in 1991, in Nóqui village.
The tribute embodied in the deposition of a wreath at his grave, located next to the former Catholic Cathedral (Kulumbimbi).
The event was also part of the program of his 12-day pastoral visit to the province of Zaire, for the confirmation and strengthening of Catholic communities.
At the airport in M’banza-Kongo, the prelate received greetings welcome from the deputy provincial governor, Angela Diogo, on behalf of Governor José Joanes André, missionaries, youth group and others.
