Angola Press Agency, Luena — More than four thousand people attended the thanks-giving mass on Saturday in Luena, eastern Moxico province, to mark the 13th anniversary of peace in the country.
The mass that was held in the “27 de Março” Pavilion was witnessed by the vice president of the Republic, Manuel Domingos Vicente, the provincial governor, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, mmembers of the central and local governments, MPs, church officials, chieftains and residents.
Addressing the event, the Apostolic Church pastor, Marcos Kapote Micele, said peace involves reconciliation, preservation and national reconstruction, and must be seen as the restoring of relations among citizens and each Angolan must contribute.
He said the country is currently experiencing an environment of peace, stability and progress thanks to the peace, but its fruits must be love and solidarity among brothers.
Pastor Micele praised the role played by the head of State José Eduardo dos Santos in the achievement of peace, recalling that he was the architect of peace reached through so much sacrifice.
