Ghana: Anointing Oil Can’t Save You – Says Methodist Minister

Atronie — Christians who put all their hope and trust in anointing oils, stickers and wrist-bands have been reminded to reconsider their decision.

The Superintendent Minister of the Sunyani Circuit of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Very Rev Daniel Kwasi Tannor says it is extremely worrying that a lot of Christians have put their hopes and trust in anointing oils, stickers and wrist bands, as well as other branded items of certain pastors and churches, instead of counting on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.

He said such items cannot guarantee anyone salvation and hope, except through Jesus Christ.

Very Rev Daniel Kwasi Tannor was preaching at Atronie, near Sunyani, during a Thanksgiving service held to round off this year’s Annual Camp Meeting of members of the Sunyani Circuit of the Methodist Church, Ghana.

The three-day programme was on the Theme: “Salvation Only in Jesus Christ.”

Very Rev Daniel Kwasi Tannor, who is also the Sunyani Diocesan Synod Secretary of the church, emphasized that salvation could only be found in Jesus and not in any church, pastor, anointing oil, sticker or wrist-bands.

He said heaven and hell are real whether one believes it or not, saying “it is only those who are saved here on earth through Jesus who will make it to heaven. The Rev Minister stressed that there was no repentance after death and that people needed to be saved while they are alive.

As part of the Camp Meeting, members of the church carried out house-to-house evangelism. Several people who accepted Christ as their personal savior as a result of that evangelism exercise were introduced at the service and were formally admitted into the church.
