Ghana is not at standstill – Mahama

President-John-Mahama1Citifmonline.com -President John Dramani Mahama has challenged Ghanaians to recognize the progress the country is making instead of assuming that the country is at a standstill.

“My brothers and sisters, often when we are pigeonholed in our own communities, it is easy for us to lose sight of the bigger picture, and to falsely assume that the nation is at a standstill,” President Mahama stated.

The president, who expressed satisfaction at ongoing developmental projects across the country, said the “nation is making commendable progress and nothing can be further from the truth.”

Speaking at the 120th Anniversary of the Catholic Church in Accra, the president cited some ongoing projects in the country such as university infrastructure, provision of water, construction of hospitals and rehabilitation of our road network.

“I feel fulfilled that the provision that the provision of critical social and economic services and infrastructure are ongoing. In Sokode in the Volta Region, work on the permanent campus for the University of Health and Allied Sciences is progressing admirably,” the president said.

According to him, not only has government started work on a new water supply system in Wa that will deliver 3.3m gallons of water to the township, but have also, progressed work impressively on the construction of a new hospital for the Upper West Region.

President Mahama also said he was content with the construction of the Sawla Fulfoso Road in the Northern Region.

“On my visit, one of the major road projects in this country and which many assumed will never ever be constructed and has been repeated over and over in every budget since 1992, the famous Sawla Fulfoso Road in the Northern Region is progressing steadily,” he added.
