Ghana: Overcome intolerance and greed – Clergyman

Monsignor Peter Affi-Mensah, Priest in-charge of the Sefwi-Wiaso Catholic Diocese, has urged Christians to work relentlessly towards overcoming intolerance and greed that continued to afflict the society.

He said they should help the people to live in harmony, soothe tension and uphold “our common humanity”.

Monsignor Affi-Mensah said this to climax the centenary celebration of the Bibiani Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church on Thursday.

It was on the theme: “Let us strive to make a mark for the future generation to continue to build upon”.

Monsignor Affi-Mensah encouraged the congregation to remain strong in their faith and asked those who are lax to renew their faith.

He called for the intensification of the church’s evangelism to bring hope to the people.

The immediate-past Parish Priest, Reverend Father Simon Asamoah, said the church had made significant contribution to the development of education in the area through the establishment of schools.

He said it had also cultivated a teak plantation as part of efforts to help restore the forest cover.
