He explained that the late Rev. Dr Nantoma, who was once the Minister-In-Charge of the congregation died on March 25, 1985; though the Kanda Presbyterian Church had been named after him, the need to do much by building a worship place in his memory.

“Tragedy struck the congregation on March 25, 1985; when Rev. Dr Nantoma and his wife together with their two children, a niece of Mrs Nantoma and one student of the Trinity College-Legon were trapped by a falling tree at Akomadan in the Ashanti Region on their way to the Northern Region, adding that “They all perished, except the niece of Mrs Nantoma who survived,” he said.

Rev. Osafo-Boateng made the remarks at a press conference held in Accra on Friday where he also outlined activities marking the congregation’s 30th anniversary which is on the theme “Chosen to Bear Fruit.”

“Beginning of this year, a number of activities like marriage seminars, health talks, fun games, bible quiz and musical concerts, have been held as part of the activities marking the congregation’s anniversary, but we can’t climax without having the rest which are also important on the anniversary’s calendar,” Rev Osafo-Boateng said.

He also noted that, on June 27 there would be a congregational Prayer meeting, a clean-up exercise and a visit to the Juvenile Correction Centre on June 28.
