Multi-award-winning international gospel artist, Ikiri Lawrence
(Artslink.co) Multi-award-winning international gospel artist, Ikiri Lawrence, known to his fans as ‘Mr Sweet Song’ joins some of South Africa’s top gospel stars.
Expect a night of inspiring, uplifting and soulful music at the Lyric Theatre on June 29.
“It has always been about music coming from the heart and soul to my world,” says Lawrence.
An award winning international recording artist, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer, entrepreneur, and music director with a passion for music, Lawrence promises concert-goers an evening they’ll never forget. ‘An evening with Mr Sweet Song’ is also a live DVD recording, and will include music from two previous albums, ‘Changing Levels’ (2008) and ‘Sincerity’ (2012).
Lawrence, who was born in Nigeria to a musical family and was a OneGospel newcomer in 2008, is joined on stage by the versatile singer, songwriter and keyboard player Assent Tweed, singer/songwriter Viwe Nikita, and Martin PK (The Gospel Stepper). Tweed has headlined several concerts across Europe and is working on his third album. He is also co-producer of the hit reality show ‘Dynasty Music’ aired on the Christian television channel LoveWorldSAT. SAMA-nominated PK, a former Backstage and Sewende Laan soap star, is a popular television presenter and a prolific songwriter, while Nikita has a significant gospel fan base in sub-Saharan Africa and in the UK. Her album, The God of Everything was nominated for Best Worship Song of the Year in the Loveworld Awards 2012.
