Kenya: Gospel Singers Not Hypocrites – Hey-Z

HEY-Z 3_greyGOSPEL artiste Daniel Ng’ang’a, popularly known as Hey-Z, has defended the gospel music fraternity over allegations of hypocrisy and corruption.

He said although there may be some isolated cases, “it is unfair to describe and judge the whole gospel industry as hypocritical and corrupt.”

The gospel industry has recently been rocked by controversies about some singers who are accused of being corrupt and hypocritical.

“We all have our shortcomings. We all have fallen short of God’s glory and no one is perfect. Furthermore, we are all humans and like nature dictates, to err is human. I am not justifying the deeds, but all I am saying is, we should not judge because only God has the powers and mandate to do so,” he said.

The Groove-award winner, who recently changed his identity to Hey-Z Da Brand, has marked his comeback to the music scene after a year-and-a-half break with the release of two tracks, I am Nothing and Kila Kitu, which are enjoying massive airplay in local media.

“I took a sabbatical to concentrate on my businesses and now I am back. I plan to release two songs after every two months. My two brands – On Time Garage, which mostly deals with apparel branding, and Brand Empire, which I believe will be the premier video production company in Kenya – are up and running. It’s all in God’s service and getting the best that life has to offer,” he says.
