Namibia: Joyce Meyer Jets in

meyerBy Ndapewoshali Shapwanale – Charismatic Christian author and motivational speaker Joyce Meyer arrived in Namibia and was received by the Governor of Khomas, Laura McLeod-Katjirua, as well as various church leaders, at the Eros Airport yesterday.

McLeod-Katjirua welcomed Meyer on behalf of First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba, who is out of the country on official duty.

Known for her humour and “keeping it real” attitude, news of the Festival of Life pastor’s arrival drew attention from people from all walks of life looking forward to listening to the celebrated speaker. Addressing the media at the Eros Airport yesterday, Meyer touched on gender-based violence affecting the nation.

“I find it amazing that God sent me here at this time in your history,” she said. McLeod-Katjirua pointed out that Meyer had come at a time the nation was standing together in prayer against the evils of gender-based violence, drug and alcohol abuse.

Meyer will speak at a leadership conference at the Pentecostal Protestant Church in Windhoek tomorrow, and will address worshipers on Friday and Saturday at the Independence Stadium.
