Daily Trust, Kaduna — Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero yesterday lamented the division between Christians and Muslims in the state and called on traditional rulers in the state to workout modalities that will unite the people.

Yero said separation of Muslims from Christian communities in the state portends future danger if not addressed.

Speaking at a two day workshop organized for district heads in the state, Yero called on Muslims and Christians to associate with one another.

“The segmentation of Muslims and Christians communities is not helping matters, in fact, it has degenerated to the extent that our children do not attend the same school any longer. This portends danger in future because our children will not have the opportunity to associate with their peers from other faiths,” Yero said.

He added: “Most of the past crises in the state were attached to tribal and religious sentiments. Such crises we believe can be solved through efforts by stakeholders”.

Chairman of Kaduna State council of emirs/chiefs and Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris said as traditional leaders, they have a greater responsibility of ensuring peace and security in the state.

Idris charged the district heads to always pay attention to what is happening around them and report to authorities.
