Daily Trust, Asaba — Gunmen invaded Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, killing two persons, including an 80-year-old Reverend Sister, Marcelina Alfra.

The German-born Rev. Sister was reportedly attacked in her Ogwashi-Uku residence with a matchet. It was gathered that after the incident, the nun was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where she died.

The Police Public Relations Officer ASP Lucky Uyabeme, who confirmed the killing, said the incident was not immediately reported to the police for action. “But a day or so after, we got the information about the killing and went into action,” he said.

Mr. Uyabeme said when the nun was attacked by the hoodlums, the people around her rushed to the hospital without informing the police.

He added: “Although we have not made any arrest, we are trailing them to smoke them out of their hide-outs”.

Speaking on the matter, Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Professor Chukwuka Okonjo, said unknown gunmen are parading the town and attacking the people. He lamented that three persons have been killed in Ogwashi-Uku within the past three weeks.
