Pastor calls for moral transformation of the youth

map_of_ghana(GHANA NEWS AGENCY) The Reverend Moses Sansah-Konjon, Senior Pastor of the Zion Community Church in Sunyani, at the weekend appealed to the clergy to help instil a sense of morality and Christ-like values in the youth.

He said the church had failed and needs to wake up and take proactive steps to tackle indiscipline, indecent dressing, alcoholism and the complete moral breakdown in the society.

Rev. Sansah-Konjon made the appeal during a youth programme the church organised in Sunyani.

The two-day programme, which was on the theme: “impact of the western culture and technology on the youth sub-culture,” was attended by about 80 youth and some church leaders in the Municipality.

Topics treated included: “moral decadence in the youth sub-culture: the negative impact of technology and western culture on the youth” and “born for exploits”.

Rev. Sansah-Konjon said the church should create avenues to help unearth and nurture the talents of the youth so that they could contribute meaningfully to national development.

He said character formation is very essential in the total upbringing and development of the youth, hence the need for the church to take responsibility in ensuring that they have a strong foundation in God.

Rev Sansah-Konjon said the youth have directed their attention to worldliness because the church had failed to live up to its responsibility of inculcating in them holiness and righteousness, which are the basic principles of Christianity.

Mr Augustine Manu, a youth leader, said it is important to prepare and fine-tune the minds of the youth to enable them identify and nurture their God given talents.

He said when the youth are strong spiritually, there would be a total character transformation which would save them now and for eternity.

Mr Manu advised the youth to avoid unhealthy lifestyles that could ruin their future.
