Uganda: Miracle – Nothing Like a Powerful Declaration

Uganda: Miracle – Nothing Like a Powerful Declaration

The Observer, Kampala – Gospel minister Sinach just does it for me. Her songs are usually spot on when it comes to the lyrics, but none of them has me jumping and singing along like I Know Who I Am.

This Monday morning I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, as they say. I was just not feeling the day and had this evil premonition hanging over me about the whole day – the devil’s work, clearly.

But then as I prepared to go to work, I Know Who I Am popped into my head and from that moment on, the devil was in trouble.

There is power in confession and declaration, and that is what this particular Sinach song is about: “I’m working in power, I’m working miracles, I live a life of favour, ’cause I know who I am… I know who God says I am, what He says I am, where He says I’m at, I know who I am.”

Before I knew it, I was dancing through my dressing-up routine and an amazing calm and assurance had settled over me. There were events I was dreading in the middle of this week and I could not stop myself from feeling a frisson of fear rip through my depths, but the more I sang (declared, really) the more release I felt and by the time I walked out of the house, I had no doubt that my Jesus was in control.

Learn to declare and confess your victories. It may not even be in song (I am a worshipper; so, naturally a lot of my spiritual victories are registered through praise and worship); you may launch into a prayer of declaration and confession over whatever challenges you may be facing. The power that is released by that is immense.

Unless we understand who we truly are in Christ, it will not be possible to tap into His blessing. Know that you are a child of the Most High God; a chosen generation; a fearfully and wonderfully-made creature in God’s own image; a joint heir with Christ; God’s friend; a winner; a conqueror… the list is endless.

The Bible lists so many special terms God has for us, yet we too have our own unique special relationships with God based on the things He has done for us. Declare and leave Satan looking on in awe and envy as you break through yet again!
