Zambia: Katombola Quits Politics to Serve God

1033_32_3---Pulpit-Bible--The-Parish-Church-of-St-Mary-the-Virgin--Holy-Island_webFORMER Southern Province minister Lukulo Katombola has retired from active politics to concentrate on Christian work.

Announcing his resignation on Saturday at Maramba River Lodge during a Press briefing, Mr Katombola said he wanted to concentrate on the word of God and addressing the plight of the less privileged in society.

“It is high time that I left politics to others as I am an elder in Church. I have decided that I should be above politics, I want to hang my political gloves,” the former minister said.

He said his appointment as Southern Province minister was the most joyous moment of his political life, and that his sacking had no negative impact on his life as it simply pushed him to fulfill his destiny in life.

Mr Katombola said the saddest time in his life was when the media “demonised” him for things that he had not done.

He said it was sad that some people spread rumours that he had refused to move out of the ministerial house and failed to surrender his official car, while he had not even used the facilities in question.

And Patriotic Front Southern Province political secretary Brian Hapunda said every person had a democratic right to choose what they wanted to do in life.
