The Herald – At least 40 000 women from Zimbabwe and beyond are expected to converge in Harare for the United Family International Church’s Victorious Ladies Convention which begins in Harare tomorrow. The brainchild of Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, wife to UFIC founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, the convention is set to transform the lives of women spiritually while empowering them to venture into business in a Godly way.
Guest speaker Prophetess Anita Kusi Boateng of Ghana, jetted into Zimbabwe yesterday as the excitement around the convention reached fever pitch.
Chairperson of the organising committee Mrs Fortunate Kufakunesu said all was set for the convention with hundreds of women from South Africa, Zambia, the United Kingdom, Canada and other countries already here for the meeting while thousands others from across the country had started streaming into the capital for the event.
“All is set for the convention and those attending should be geared for serious transformation. Our mother, Prophetess Makandiwa, is one woman with so much passion for women to succeed and grow not just spiritually but economically and in other spheres of life.
“She embodies the virtues of God and her humbleness and unequalled dedication to the things of God is something we seek to emulate so we see the convention as an opportunity to glean what we can from her as women from Zimbabwe, Africa and the rest of the world,” said Mrs Kufa.
She said the presence of Prophetess Boateng was the cherry on the cake.
“We are extremely excited and humbled by the arrival of Prophetess Boateng. She is a mighty woman of God with so much to give to us.”
Prophetess Boateng is wife to popular Ghanaian Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng, spiritual father to Prophet Makandiwa.
Prominent South African gospel musician Hlengiwe Mhlaba is also expected in the country for the ladies’ convention.
Mrs Kufa said Zimbabwean women had a critical role to play in fostering socio-economic development hence the need to nurture their entrepreneurial skills and other feminine attributes that would see them contribute effectively to national development.
“It is through such meetings that Prophetess Makandiwa aims to impart what God has deposited in her in terms of moulding women into effective citizens,” she said.
Women, who usually carry the burden of their families’ welfare while playing an instrumental role in nation-building, needed spiritual guidance so they could play their multiple roles effectively, said Mrs Kufa. The philanthropic nature of women would also be sharpened to ensure they did their part in complementing Government efforts to look after the needy.
Already Prophetess Makandiwa assists hundreds of orphans with school fees and other needs while she pays rent, buys groceries, clothes and blankets, among other necessities for widows. A number of children’s homes in Harare and other parts of the country also benefit from her generous heart.
“The next two days will see women enter into Prophetess Makandiwa’s refinery from which they will emerge purified and well rounded. Some of us were a heap of raw materials . . . a heap of bones but the woman of God brought life to us. So I know what it means to attend a convention of this nature,” said Mrs Kufa.
