He was speaking at a valedictory service held in honour of the retiring Superintendent Minister of the Techiman Circuit of the Methodist Church, the Right Reverend Dr Nuh Ben Abubekr, at the Ebenezer Methodist Chapel in Techiman.

The MP attributed the peace the country had been enjoying since the election petition’s verdict to strong collaboration between the church and the state.

“It is the fruit of the peace walks, revivals, crusades and special prayers organized by the Christian Council of Ghana and the various churches, highlighting the need for all to accept the outcome of the legal challenge in good faith.”

Mr Mensah gave high marks to the Local Council of Churches in his constituency for the significant part it played to prevent trouble and ensured that the last poll passed without any nasty incident.

The MP also praised the retiring priest for instituting an award scheme for retired teachers of Methodist schools in the Circuit, something he noted, had boosted the moral of the teachers.

The Rt. Rev. Dr Abubekr, who has been in the service of the church for more than 30 years with passion for evangelism, expressed gratefulness to the laity and the clergy for the support, understanding and cooperation they gave to him.

He said the vision of the Methodist Church was to function as a “vibrant, spirit-filled and spirit-led church for the holistic transformation of society” and invited the congregation to pull together to make this happen.
