Ghana: The Bible – God’s Answers to Our Issues and Challenges (part III)

BIBLE“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” – 2 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

We have been studying that the Bible is our “Hope Chest” and that in it we have God our Father and Creator, through His Son as well as the Apostles, Prophets and Priests confirming to us what He has done and what He is still doing on our behalf.

We are drawing our attention to the Treasure of Promises we have in the Bible so that Christians who still walk around as if we are still slaves to Satan and behave as “poor orphans” without any hope of living the “Abundant Life” that our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ promises will recognize that indeed we can and must live like Jesus says we should in John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” We will continue for the next couple of weeks to use this column to draw attention to the “Treasure of Promises” for every aspect of our lives. Enjoy God’s “Abundant Life” through the following:

GOD’S PROMISES ON PERSEVERANCE

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:29-31 (NIV)

“But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation – if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of His body, which is the church. I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness” — Colossians 1:22-25 (NIV)

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” – Romans 8:17-18)

“These have come so that your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” – 1Peter 1:7-9 (NIV)

“He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out His name from the book of life, but will acknowledge His name before my Father and His angels”. – Revelation 3:5 (NIV)

PROMISES WHENWE NEED TO KNOW TRUTH

“Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way chosen for Him. He will spend his days in prosperity, and His descendants will inherit the land. The LORD confides in those who fear him; He makes His covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only He will release my feet from the snare.” – Psalm 25:12-15

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” – Psalm 32:8″All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal” – Psalm 119:160

“To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:31-32

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counsellor to be with you for ever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because itneither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you” – John 14:16-17

PROMISES WHENYOU NEED TO KNOW GOD’S WILL:

“And if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless”, – Proverbs 2:4-7

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight”. – Proverbs 3:5-6

“Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.” – Proverbs 28:5

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them”. – Isaiah 42:16

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come”. – John 16:13
