Nigeria: Anglican Fathers Donate N3.5 Million to Three Widowers

By Emma Elekwa (This Day) Three male widowers were last Sunday empowered by the men’s fellowship of the Cathedral Church of St. Batholomew, Kubwa, with the sum of N3.5million to assist them in taking care of their families.

The President of the fellowship, Innocent Ekeopara, who spoke to our reporter, said the gesture is in line with the organisation’s mandate to empathise with members, who are faced with financial challenges.

He said the assumption that some men who lost their wives would not find it difficult in taking up the family responsibilities might be wrong especially when the woman was the bread winner before her demise.

Ekeopara further hinted that the project is a continuous one as more widowers would be empowered by the fellowship subsequently.

One of the recipients, Solomon Azu, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture, saying the step taken by the men has further demonstrated that they are really godly fathers, who have the interest of their members at heart.

He prayed God to reward them immensely, adding that the fund would go a long way in assisting him to meet up with his responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the same group had last Thursday made some donations to an orphanage known as Divine Wounds of Jesus orphanage, Kubwa.

Presenting the cash donation and some gift items to the proprietor of the home, the President of the fellowship, Innocent Ekeopara, said the visit, which is part of the activities marking this year fathers’ day celebration, was borne out of love and passion for the less privileged.

The proprietress of the home, Prophetess Victoria Ezemuoka thanked the group for choosing her home out of the numerous less privileged homes within the area.
