Nigeria: Christian Pilgrimage – Okorocha Commends Opara’s Giant Strides

Leadership, Abuja – Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha has described the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara as a bridge builder. Okorocha thanked Opara for the selfless service he had been rendering to the nation by ensuring peace through positive mediation. He also commended him for his efforts in transforming Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria.

Governor Okorocha further assured Mr Opara that the state government would continue to support Christian pilgrimage in-so-far as he remained at the helm of the commission. His words, “We will do everything to support you and ensure you succeed, because you are our son.” The governor assured the NCPC boss that he would meet all his requests to sponsor pilgrims from the state to the Holy Land this year, to ensure that Imo State was represented during President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to the Holy Land.

Earlier, the NCPC Executive Secretary commended the governor for his giant strides in the state, saying “what you are doing in Imo State is quite commendable. God has brought you at a time like this to liberate the people.”

The NCPC boss told the governor that the commission would continue to use pilgrimage as a tool for moral and spiritual transformation.

He averred that if the people are transformed they would help to sustain the good legacies of the government.
