Nigeria: Deeper Life Church Attack – FG Arraigns Suspect

The federal government has filed charges against a suspected Boko Haram member, Abdulmannan Obadiki, who was alleged to have participated in the 2012 attack on Deeper Life Church, in Okene, Kogi State.

About 20 worshipers were shot dead a mid-night attack when gunmen stormed the church where the people were holding a night vigil.

Obadiki is charged with engaging in terrorism activities and illegal possession of firearm, in a six-count charge filed against him by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.

He is alleged to have committed the offences in collaboration with some others, now at large. Obadiki, light in complexion and dressed in native attire, was taken before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja yesterday by security operatives.

His arraignment, however, could not take place because the suspect had no lawyer to represent him. Justice Kolawole, thereafter, adjourned to December 12 for his arraignment.
