Uganda: Retired SDA Church Bishop Sendaula Dead

The New Vision – The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) retired Bishop of the Central Uganda Conference (CUC) has died.

Pastor SK Sendaula, 82, died on Wednesday night at Mulago at the main National Referral Hospital, Mulago in Kampala where he had been admitted for about month.

The fallen retired cleric succumbed to heart failure, according to CUC communications director, Pr. Marlon Juma.

“He has been having heart problems since 1989. By the time of his death, we were preparing to take him to India for an operation. It is a big blow for the church but we know that it is God who gives and takes,” he said.

Pastor Sendaula is survived by a widow and a child.

He attended Kikozi Church of Uganda private primary school and Bugema Missionary College, now Bugema University.

Pastor Sendaula became an Adventist in 1953, entered the pastoral service ministry in 1962. He was CUC bishop from 1996 to 1998. He worked as a radio evangelist at Radio Uganda. “He organized big efforts (crusades) in Buganda region and Western Uganda which saw many people convert to SDA,” Juma noted.

He served as the treasurer, secretary at the CUC and later became the bishop of the CUC. Sendaula also authored two prominent Christian books titled; “Science of Salvation (1989)” and “Dragon and the Woman (1991)” all available in bookshops and various Christian libraries.

His body will be laid to rest at the CUC Church at Kireka on Friday. The burial will be preceded by a special service at SDA Kireka Hill Church.
