Ghanaian man stabs 19-year old brother to death during fight inside their home

NY Daily News – A Ghanaian man stabbed his 19-year-old brother to death during a fight inside their home, police said.
Michael Darko, 28, allegedly knifed his brother Matthew Darko in the back during a one-on-one confrontation inside their apartment on Franklin Ave. near E. 168th St. in Claremont Village about 7:45 p.m. Friday October 19, cops said.

The victim was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital and died there later that day.
Michael Darko was arrested for murder and weapon possession. He has no prior arrests, police said.
He was ordered held without bail when he was arraigned Friday in Bronx Criminal Court.
The siblings’ family was holed up in their apartment Monday and wouldn’t comment. Neighbors said the dad lives in Ghana and that the mother goes for dialysis treatments and needs a wheelchair to get around.

Three times a week, they said, Michael would carry her down the stairs from her fifth-floor walkup so she could go for her treatment.
One neighbor, Michelle Holmes, 51, found out about the murder from the Citizen app.
“They were siblings,” she said. “They fought as siblings. But this … I’m really suprised and I’m sad.”
She also said the suspect took care of the family, but another neighbor, Dani Agyepong, 70, said Michael Darko appeared to have psychiatric problems.
“He never got any help,” Agyepong said. “If you had a conversation with him you could tell.”
He would talk, Agyepong added, “and it wouldn’t make any sense.”
Matthew Adu Darko funeral is scheduled for November 16, 2018.
