THE Anglican Church of Kenya has condemned politicians and other leaders involved in drug dealing. Speaking during a two-day workshop for all the Bishops from the country at Jumuia Conference Center, Bishop Eliud Wabukala said politicians implicated in drug trafficking should be prosecuted.

Wabukala asked the church to join the fight against drugs and substance abuse through biblical teachings and sermons. “Love of money is the beginning of all evil. Dealing in drugs is motivated by the need of more and more money at the expense of the lives of our young people,” Wabukala said.

“The effect of this to the society is permanent and very unfortunate. We can do research and awareness to prevent drug abuse. That to me, is the cure. We shall also introduce this awareness in our teachings.” Wabukala said the ACK supports the work done against substance abuse by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
