Ghana: I Have a Resilient Faith in God – Rev. Kusi Berko

The Ghanaian Chronicle – Ace gospel artist, Barima Kusi Brempong, known in the music world as Rev. Kusi Berko, Friday, took to podium of the Perez Chapel and told his audience that his faith in God has kept him alive.

“I have a resilient faith in God. For six good years, I was bed-ridden as a result of stroke. I could not walk but I told God that I will not die but live to testify his good works. Today, here I am, proclaiming the work of God,” noted the gospel artist of ‘Eden Ben Ni’ fame.

From hindsight, one could notice the tribulation the musician had gone through, as his physical looks had deteriorated a bit. However, his voice and traits during his golden years still remained the same.

Not worried about the ordeal he had gone through, Rev. Kusi Brempong stood on his feet, danced around and sang praises to God. The slick performance he put up was enough to attract renowned musicians like the Tagoe Sisters, Obour, Hannah Marfo and up and coming artist, Sonnie Badu, to join him on stage. It was a spectacular night to remember.

He took time to tell his audience the predicament he has gone through for six years, as a result of the stroke sickness which attacked him while he was overseas.

During this period, he argued, his beautiful wife divorced him, but noted that did not discourage him from losing faith in God.

“Sometimes, I look in the mirror and ask myself why am I becoming visually impaired as a result of this sickness? But I told God that I shall regain it in Jesus name. Today, that lost vision is no more,” he narrated to the admiration of the audience.

He urged Ghanaians to always have confidence in themselves and solely rely on God since he is the only one to deliver them from the shackles of bondage.

Budding gospel talent, Sonnie Badu, commenting on the program said he always feels sad about Ghanaians not celebrating their legends.

He said the time had come to change that attitude and honour those who deserve honour. President of MUSIGA, Obuor, known in private life as Bice Osei Kuffuor and Rev.Emmanuel Kobbi, who graced the occasion gave compelling testimonies about Rev. Kusi Berko and urged Ghanaians to be inspired by his life.
