Kenya: MP Mutambu Donates Sh1.2 Million Aid to AIC Church

By Musembi Nzengu, The Star – Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu has donated iron sheets worth Sh1.2 million for a church in Kitui town whose construction had stalled. The 500 iron sheets were presented to the Kitui Township AIC church construction project committees chairman Japheth Kiteme Mwalimu by Mutambus’s aide George Munyambu on Monday evening.

Speaking in Kitui at the church, Munyambu said Mutambu is making good a pledge he had made to finance the roofing. He made the pledge on September 8 during a fund raiser for the project at which former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was the chief guest.

Odinga’s co-principal in the Cord alliance and former vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka was also present during the funds raiser. “My friend Mutambu has offered to give the donation in service of the almighty God,” Munyambu told newsmen soon after delivering the donation to the church.

“I call upon other leaders to follow suit. They should use their wealth to support worthwhile causes like service to God, schools projects and even assisting the needy ,” Munyambu said. Mwalimu said members of the church are elated at the gesture saying they will reciprocate by cooperating with him in any of his projects if called upon.

“It is no mean fete. The church will continue praying for him so that he excels in his responsibilities as an elected MP,” Mwalimu said.
