WLT5 GOSHEN, Ohio —Police apprehended two suspects Saturday outside of a Kroger store after officials thought their purchases were suspicious.
Goshen Police Chief Rick Combs said the two men, Richard Boakye, 28, and Abama Akanova, 24, both of Ghana, Africa, were arrested outside the Kroger at 6725 Dick Flynn Blvd. Feb. 7.
Authorities said both men live in New York, but are currently residing in Columbus, Ohio.
Combs said after officers interviewed both men, and conducted a lengthy investigation they recovered 192 gift cards and 81 money orders valued at more than $35,000. In addition, officers recovered two laptop computers and a credit card reader from their car.
Combs said both men were charged with receiving stolen property.
According to Combs, the case is expected to elevate to the federal level.
Boakye and Akanova are both being held in the Clermont County Jail.
